Wingman Award Goes to Small Group

In a departure from past practice, ICAS presented the Bob Hoover Wingman Award to a group of ICAS members who pitched in to help the Darnell family following the death of Chris Darnell in Battle Creek, Michigan in July of 2022.

As he made the presentation during the Chairman’s Banquet on December 15, BGEN Marcus Jannitto (USAF, retired) recognized a number of people for the various roles they played in the aftermath of Chris’s fatal accident, helping to ease the pain of the Darnell family and making the tragedy a little easier to get through. This year’s Wingman Award recipients include Ken and Christy Rieder, Matt and Kristi Younkin, Kyle and Liz Franklin, Nathan and Kelley Hammond, John and Anna Waters, Barb Haluzska and the Battle Creek team, David White, the USAF Thunderbirds, Kellie Hudson, Dave Olmstead, Joe Shetterly, and Brian Correll.
