Bill Walker, a member of the Red Thunder Air Show Team, was killed on Saturday, March 26 at the Flagler Warbird Fly-In Show in Flagler, Florida when his Yak-52 failed to recover from a descending vertical maneuver. Nobody else in the air or on the ground was involved in the accident. The FAA is conducting an investigation into the causes of the accident.
A memorial service for Bill will be held at the Cookeville (Tennessee) First United Methodist Church, 204 East Spring Street, Cookeville, Tennessee on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on the night before, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1 at the Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home, 59 North Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville, phone 931-526-6111.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Bill Walker has asked that contributions be made to the “Wings Over Flagler William ‘Wild Bill’ Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund.” Donations should be made payable to the Flagler County Education Foundation, c/o Wings Over Flagler, 283 Old Moody Boulevard, Palm Coast, Florida 32164.
