March Madness: Air Show Style | March 8th, 2021 |
The first days of March brought further validation that the new air show season is nearly upon us.
Last week, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds spent several days together at NAF El Centro in California, training together for the upcoming air show season. The joint training session culminated in the very rare 12-plane "Super Delta" joint formation.
Then, this past weekend at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, the U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command single-ship demo teams joined forces with the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight civilian pilots for their annual Heritage Flight Training Conference. Pilots and team members from the A-10 Thunderbolt II Demo Team, F-16 Viper Demo, F-22 Raptor Demo Team and F-35 Lightning II Demo Team flew dozens of sorties over several days with the civilian pilots from the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation to prepare for the many Heritage Flight formation demonstrations scheduled for this coming air show season. This was the 24th annual Heritage Flight Training Conference. |
