U.S. Air Force Releases F-16 Viper, F-22 Raptor Demonstration Teams' 2016 Schedules | February 23rd, 2016 |
LEESBURG, Va. - The U.S. Air Force’s Air Combat Command (ACC) Aerial Events office this morning released their 2016 F-16 and F-22 jet demonstration team air show schedules as well as the flights taking place as part of the Heritage Flight Program. The F-16 Viper Demo Team will start the ACC’s season March 11-13, 2016, at the TICO Warbird Air Show in Titusville, Fla. The single-ship F-16 demonstration team will support 22 air shows in 12 U.S. states, including a stop in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and two shows in Alberta, Canada. The F-22 Raptor demonstration team will appear at 23 air shows in 14 U.S. states and starts their season at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base at Thunder and Lightning Over Arizona. The team will also make two stops in Canada as well as project power abroad at The Royal International Air Tattoo in the United Kingdom. As standard protocol, selected shows were prioritized based on recruiting opportunities, crowd size, location, and air field suitability and past support. The popular USAF Heritage Flight program returns this season, as well. Adding buzz to the program’s return is the addition of the F-35 Lightning II in select flights. The ACC Aerial Events objectives are to recruit and retain America's finest, showcase American airpower, and enhance community and international relations. To achieve their multi-faceted mission takes the U.S. Air Force’s full commitment. With the limitations brought on by sequestration beginning to ease, the air service will begin to rebuild their relationship with the public and demonstrate the capabilities and level of readiness the American people expect from their armed services.
