Following the first air show of the season for the U.S. Navy Blue Angels last week in El Centro, California, and with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds due to start their season this coming weekend at MCAS Yuma in Arizona, the 2012 air show season has officially begun.
Shows earlier in the year in Texas and Florida helped to get the season started, but with the full engagement of the U.S. military jet teams and the five-day Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In and air show at the end of this month, March marks what many believe to be the beginning of the air show season. In addition to the Thunderbirds’ first show, the Blues will perform at the St. George Airshow in Utah, and Thunder in the Valley will take place in Columbus, Georgia that weekend. The Royal Canadian Air Force begins its 2012 season in May with performances in Winnipeg, New York and Quebec.
